Canon Powershot S3IS
KHADAON or PADUKA
Paduka is a terminology used in the Indian religious tradition of Hinduism that denotes a foot wear made out of wood. It also refers to the footprints of deities and saints that are venerated.
Paduka as footwear is generally worn by mendicants and saints of Hindu and Jain religions. Its significance in Hindu mythology is linked to the epic Ramayana.
Paduka also means foot prints of Hindu gods such as Vishnu, Shiva and other religious icons that are worshipped in this symbolic form in houses and also in temples built for this purpose. One such temple is the Gaya temple dedicated to Vishnupada or Vishnu's feet. Similarly, Buddha's foot prints are worshipped under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya.
It is also the royal symbol (not as a foot wear but as a headgear) in Malaysia termed as ‘Seri Paduka’ denoting "His Majesty", which is a title bestowed as an honour of recognition to the dignitaries of Malaysian court for their outstanding contribution to the betterment of their State.

The greener grass
Canon powershot S3IS
Himachal Pradesh
Up into the silence the green
silence with a white earth in it
you will(kiss me)go
out into the morning the young
morning with a warm world in it
(kiss me)you will go
on into the sunlight the fine
sunlight with a firm day in it
you will go(kiss me
down into your memory and
a memory and memory
i)kiss me,(will go)

Dream dream dream
Canon Powershot S3IS
Dream
Priscilla Ahn
I was a little girl
Alone in my little world
Who dreamed of a little home for me.
I played pretend between the trees,
and fed my house guests bark and leaves,
and laughed in my pretty bed of green.
I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest swing.
I had a dream.

Her hallowed mystery
Canon Powershot S3IS
Suraj kund crafts mela 2010
A SOLEMN thing it was, I said,
A woman white to be,
And wear, if God should count me fit,
Her hallowed mystery.
A timid thing to drop a life
Into the purple well,
Too plummetless that it come back
Eternity until.

Their idea of bottoms up in their parties.....
I think either she was tending to and itchy back or taking a mud bath.
I miss rolling on the ground so much. Remember that fight that time? we pulled the other ones hair and rolled in the dusty ground fighting ferociously :P......by the time it got over....muddy hands skinned knees....dust blown hair....and the oh so familiar muddy taste in the mouth. I miss those fights so much :P

Gods Of Gutters
Canon Powershot S3IS
Chandni Chawk, Old Delhi
This is a typical street corner at Chandni Chawk. There were many such tiles of Hindu gods and goddesses there lined right above the open naalas and ditches. A place where people pee and spit.
Time and again you hear these religious people making such hue and cry over a remix of some Hindu Bhajan or a title like Avatar used in some Hollywood movie....
And here we are. Gods in charge of ditches and sewers.
lolz.....Its a twisted world innit?

An old Self Portrait
This picture was taken a longtime ago when I had just started with my 1st tiny 4mp cam. That time I could not even figure out how to use the timer or the flower meant Macro mode :P
Anyway I took this in my room in candle light. This is a Hand Held shot.

Chandan aur Sindoor
Canon Powershot S3IS
Badrinath
SINDOOR
Sindoor is a red powder (Vermilion), which is traditionally applied at the beginning or completely along the parting-line of a woman’s hair (also called mang) or as a dot on the forehead. Sindoor is the mark of a married woman in Hinduism. Single women wear the dot in different colors ("bindi" in Hindi) but do not apply sindoor in their mang.
In Hindu culture, the tradition of wearing Sindoor or vermillion is said to have been prevailing through more than 5,000 years. Female figurines excavated at Mehrgarh, Baluchistan, show that sindoor was applied to the partition of women's hair even in early Harappan times.
SANDALWOOD
Sandalwood paste is integral to rituals and ceremonies, to mark religious utensils and to decorate the icons of the deities. It is also distributed thereafter to devotees, who apply it to the forehead or the neck and chest. Preparation of the paste is considered a duty fit only for the pure, and is therefore entrusted in temples and during ceremonies only to priests.
The paste is prepared by grinding pieces of the wood by hand upon granite slabs shaped for the purpose. With slow addition of water a thick paste results, which is mixed with saffron or other such pigments to make Chandan.
Sandalwood is considered in alternative medicine to bring one closer to the divine. Sandalwood essential oil, which is very expensive in its pure form, is used primarily for Ayurvedic purposes and treating anxiety.
